Cortisone injection (for scar reduction)

Cortisone or steroid injection is an effective scar treatment. They help to soften and shrink hard scars such as keloid or hypertrophic scars. The scar tissue from keloid scars tend to grow excessively forming a raised and sometimes pink or red colored scar that extends beyond the original injury. Hypertrophic scars are similar to a keloid scar but do not extend beyond the original injury.

How Does It Work?

 

Cortisone or Steroids break the bonds between collagen fibers, which reduce the amount of scar tissue underneath the skin. It also has the anti-inflammation property that decrease the itching, redness, swelling or burning sensation of the scar.

How Long Does It Take?

 

The procedure is quick and only take 15min.  Our cortisone injection treatment is carried out by our registered medical practitioner. It’s recommended to take the Cortisone injection every 4 to 6 weeks for less than 5 treatments to get the best result.
